WA vs SA - Saturday, September 28, 2013
Word of the Day - TRUST
Our first game was against the host state(SA) at Port Adelaide. After 3 days preparation the 55's were ready to go.
The starting line up looked great and were moving the ball around really well. A wonderful pass from Eleanor saw Janese finish off with a fantastic goal.
Great team work then saw WA awarded a penalty corner which was beautifully converted by Deb. The same penalty corner was tried again with the same result.
Half time score 3 nil to WA. After half time the constant pressure by the midfield saw a number of opportunities up forward with Marg picking up a ball near the SA goalie to score.
With a minute to go Tracey passed to Ricky, then Dale, then Sue, a dummy by Jilly in the circle saw Alison deflect it into the goals for a 5 nil victory to WA.
Result: WA 5 - SA 0

WA vs QLD - Sunday, September 29, 2013
Word of the Day - FAITH
The first half was played with intensity by both teams in very warm weather conditions. With great team work and faith in each other we were in our attacking half most of the time but could not convert.
In the last seconds of the half Queensland scored off a penalty corner.
Second half Queensland became very defensive which made it difficult to score.
Result: WA 0 - QLD 1
Best Players - Maris Margetts and Tracey Buswell.

Word of the Day - Patience
The game got off to a great start with a goal from Jill off the first short corner. She was perfectly placed near the spot to deflect the ball from Janese's slightly raised strike.
A second goal came shortly afterwards at the 7 minute mark. It was from another short corner that Janese struck perfectly into the left corner of the goal.
There was tight marking throughout the game. NSW were strangled. Although we didn't score again there were several near misses.
Ricky did some great overlapping at right half, Pattie talked well and kept composure in goal and Sheri provided solid defence in the half back line.
Alma was determined and back tackled effectively and Gail defended and tackled well as half and full back. All in all a great team effort that NSW could not match.

WA vs VIC - Wednesday, October 2, 2013
WA lost today 1-0. We were very competitive and had most of the play, especially in the first half.
Unfortunately our inability to convert and a lucky Vic goal, resulted in the loss.
However we have a chance to redeem ourselves on Friday as 2nd (Queensland) plays 3rd (WA) and the winner will play Vic on Saturday in the grand final.

Semi-Final WA vs XXX - Friday, October 4, 2013
Word of the Day : Aggression
A do or die game for 55's. A win was necessary to play for the gold medal tomorrow. We started the game with determination and were soon in the attack.
We pressured their defence and were rewarded at the 34 minute, with a field goal. A great pass to Jill Sheehan waiting in the circle who deflected passed the goalkeeper.
Half time score 1-nil to WA.
We continued in the second half where we left off, penetrating into our attacking circle. Jill Sheehan again scored our second goal at 50th minute mark.
Another field goal at the 68th minute sealed our win. As with the other goals a true team effort with several passes resulting with Alma Davies calmly receiving the ball in the circle and slotting it past the goalkeeper.
Unerring defence, a strong and controlled midfield together with a well finishing forward line made this a great team effort.
We approach our gold medal game with confidence and determination.
BRING ON THE GRAND FINAL. GO WEST

Grand Final WA vs VIC - Saturday, October 5, 2013
The 55's worked extremely hard as a team throughout the competition and were rewarded by getting into the grand final.
WA started the game in a very attacking manner eventually .........scoring the first goal for WA.
Victoria equalised soon after and then the rest of the game was hard fought by both teams.
Victoria were given a penalty stroke late in the second half which resulted in a 2-1 win to them.
We would like to thank our coach, Coleen Dayman and our manageress, Vicki Silich for all the encouragement and support they gave us before we went away and during the competition. The 55's worked as a team on and off the field and were a credit to their state.
